Birmingham based singer-songwriter Amie K invites listeners into her eclectic emotional narrative, combining open and poetic lyrics with subtle production that highlights the story of her songs. Raised in a multi-cultural home and spending her summers in Ireland with her family, Amie became enamoured with the Celtic tradition of storytelling. Delving into Ireland’s literary history she picked up on the poetry of W.B. Yeats and Seamus Heaney and began to play with language in short poems. Coming from a musical home, songs and lyrics were a natural way for Amie to articulate herself and process the world around her. Drawing her inspiration from nature and people’s stories, she writes songs that explore a deeper narrative of the self.
Amie K has independently released three EPs since her debut in 2016, and has received support from BBC Introducing Merseyside and BBC Wiltshire. Her releases have also been featured in Essentially Pop, A&R Factory, Indie Buddie, RGM Magazine, and Madlands Media, with each release garnering more attention than the last. Her most recent EP 'Solas' was produced by her brother Leo Kitainik, and recorded in their home studio in Wiltshire.
Whilst enjoying the art of recording and the creativity of the studio, for Amie it is forming the personal connections only possible through live performance that remains key. Be it the cosy back room of a pub, a venue like The Jacaranda, or a sunny festival field, Amie draws you into her performance by making every song an intimate experience. Starting out as a Bath street busker, Amie has gigged throughout Bristol and Bath playing in venues such as The Fleece and Komedia as well as playing local festivals. She has supported Luke Jackson through Black Duck Folk and collaborated with artists from around the world through her connections in Real World through Rob Bozas and Dean Creighton’s Schtumm project. Since moving to Liverpool she has immersed herself in the local scene, with some performances taking place at Studio2 and Jacaranda Phase One. She has recently moved to Birmingham and is looking forward to getting to know her new local scene.
